Dr. Anne Carlsen, our namesake and former administrator, believed in the worth of every individual. Throughout her life she exemplified strength and nurturing, advocating for individuals with disabilities, and teaching them how to advocate for themselves, while creating a life of independence.

The Anne Carlsen Center offers a rich tradition of educational, residential, therapeutic, evaluation, and community-based services. Our individualized services include care for individuals — and families — of all ages with cerebral palsy; orthopedic, vision and hearing disabilities; autism, pervasive, and other behavior disorders; and other medical acuities.

The Center’s education program provides students with a safe, secure and loving atmosphere in which they can learn and grow. The Center is approved and accredited through the ND Dept of Public Instruction as a K-12 school.

The Student Council consists of a team of Anne Carlsen students dedicated to helping their fellow peers, classmates and friends. Student Council fund raises throughout the year to help students pay for necessities such as clothing, shoes, winter gear, school supplies or other needs they may not have the funds to cover for themselves. Fundraising also provides a yearbook at no cost to each and every student at the Anne Carlsen Center.

Fabscraps Marie Antoinette Collection

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog. Today I have 2 new layouts that I have created with the yummy Fabscraps Marie Antoinette Collection. This collection is so delicate and delicious! My first layout is called “Shining Star” and this is my adorable grand daughter. I got inspiration from a fellow scrapper Marilyn Rivera for this layout …she is a super talented lady and you can find her blog here. There is lots of punch work, distressing and inking on this layout.

I have used the collection feather chippys as leaves and tucked them into the flower clusters.  Paint the chippy feathers with white gesso and spray with some glimmer mists. After this dried I added some clear crackle paint to them. I also tucked in some of the Metal Fabscraps Embellishments.

The butterflies are punched from the scraps…gotta use up all those tiny yummy pieces, hehe! Add some flowers, bows and paint spatters and you are done.

My next layout is called “Flower Girl” and this is my cutie pie niece. The hearts and banners are all fussy cut from the collection papers.

For the hearts I fussy cut them, inked the edges and added some pop up adhesives and gauze between the layers. I have finished them off with some twine bows and some Metal Fabscraps Embellishments.

This collection comes with so many gorgeous chipboard pieces and I have used the title and feathers on this one. The title is just painted with gesso and I added some glimmer mist.

One last close up of the feathers used as leaves in my flower cluster.

I also created one more layout earlier this month with this collection for a reveal at The Color Room. The title and frame are from the collection chippys and I did lots of background masking on this one.

Thanks for stopping by today, make sure to stop by Fabscrpas  Facebook page and show us what you are creating. Have a fantastic week! Take care and happy scrapping!

Baby Belly **CT Flying Unicorn**

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog. I wanted to post this before I left to be with my daughter for a week. She is in labour as I type this and this baby will be here tonite or in the morning...so very exciting.  OK so today I have a layout that I have created using papers from Teresa Collins Sweet Afternoon Collection, Stampendous Embossing Enamel and some Dusty Attic chippys…all from the Flying Unicorn store. The more I use these papers the more I am loving them. They are thick and I love the texture of them. I also got inspiration from the current challenge at Once Upon a Sketch. The photo is my daughter just a couple of weeks ago. There is hidden journaling on the tag with the ribbon.

I have done some background masking with gesso for a soft effect. I fussy cut some of the flowers from the collection papers and tucked them in here and there. For the Dusty Attic Skeleton clock I have painted it with gesso and than sprinkled it with diamond dust while it was wet. The other chippy I painted white and I added some Stampendous Embossing Enamel and used a heat tool to set it. I love the gold flecks in this enamel…yummy.

The flowers are all from Green Tara, I have also used some Green Tara lace and trims to finish this layout off.

One last close up you can see the gorgeous pink cobweb trim and lace from GreenTara.

Well that is it for today. Don’t forget to stop by the Flying Unicorn store for all your scrappy needs…Alda has been loading so many new goodies in the store.  Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

My Birthday Girl **Green Tara**

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog. This is my 2nd post for Green Tara and I am so excited to be part of their fabulous Design Team. I squealed with delight when my Green Tara happy mail arrived and this is two new layouts I have created. The first one is called “Sweet as Candy” and both of these photos are my grand daughter on her birthday this year.

The new heirloom silk and organza teal flowers are oh so yummy and I have tucked in some roses and hibiscus flowers. I have added touches of gesso to them for a more rustic look as this layout has that look to me with the burlap and natural Dusty Attic chippys.

I have also used some of the new velvet leaves. They just finished off the bloom clusters perfectly. Green Tara also carries a huge selection of ribbon and I am in LOVE with this natural jute ribbon.

For the main bloom cluster I have added in a flower spray and that twine bow is actually Green Tara paper string.

My next layout is titled “Incredible You”. I was going for a negative space look to really focus on the gorgeous flowers and lace, and of course my gorgeous grand daughter hehe.

My main focus flowers on this layout are the new Aster Batik Sunset flowers. They are just so gorgeous and the colors are amazing. Once again I have used the new velvet leaves to finish off the flower clusters.

This is the main cluster and you can see the adorable white cherry blossoms and the new rain forest velvet and organza butterfly tucked into the top of the cluster.

Green Tara also carries gorgeous lace trims and they are so delicate and intricate it is amazing. I have used two strips of the same lace here.

Well that is it for me today, thank you so much for stopping by. I have posted below all the yummy Green Tara products used for both creations. Don’t forget to “follow” us on our Facebook page, and stop by the blog too....there is always lots of Green Tara inspiration here and there.

I have used this weeks Mojo Monday sketch from the Flying Unicorn and the photo is my grandson last Halloween.

I did some fussy cutting with this layout and added some of the cool collection embellishments.

The flowers are from Petaloo and the clock face chippy is from Dusty Attic..all available in the Flying Unicorn store.

One last close up of the bits and pieces I have added and I have finished it all off with touches of gesso here and there.

Christmas Creations with Fabscraps.

Hi everyone, I would like to thank you all for stopping by. Today I have a layout and 3 cards to share that I have created with the gorgeous Fabscraps Christmas Collection. To me this collection is just so shabby and delicious! I have done lots of distressing and inking on the layout and added in lots of the Collection goodies to finish it off. Oh and yes…this is my grandson, such a little cutie pie.

I love all of the chippys that come with this collection. For the title piece I have first painted it white, than I misted just a bit of green on it. After that was dry I used some embossing powders on the top to finish it off.  I also used a die to cut the red doilys from the collection papers.

The poinsettia flowers in this collection are so much fun to make and so so easy! Just pop out what sizes you want to use, curl the edges a bit, ink them and start to layer them. There are even green ones to use for leaves. How easy is that and they look Fabulicious. To finish off the layout have added a ribbon and twine bow and one of the Fabscraps Metal Embellishments.

Next I have 3 cards that I have made with this yummy collection. It is never too early to start making your cards and tags for Christmas. I love this first one, I have fussy cut and layered the windows…and this little window really pops up about a third of an inch or so. I saw a card recently from Alda at the Flying Unicorn with a window and that inspired this one.

I am loving the colors and music note papers in this collection and my next card is created with it. I cut a circle to use in the center from one of the collection papers. I have also made the flower from the die cut flowers paper with this collection.  Add a bow and liquid pearls and you are done.

For my last card I have fussy cut the girl and holly from the collection papers. I love doing these weird shaped cards, they are so much fun. To finish this card off I have used a Fabscraps flower and metal embellishment with some twine.

Thanks for stopping by today, make sure to stop by the Fabscraps Blog and Facebook page and show us what you are creating. I can not wait to see what you do with this collection. Take care and happy scrapping!

This is the Life **CT Flying Unicorn**

Hi everyone and happy Sunday!  Today I have a layout that I have created using this weeks case file from CSI and lots of yummy goodies all from the Flying Unicorn store. The papers are all from Teresa Collins Sweet Afternoon Collection. The texture on these papers is amazing! The flowers are Petaloo and Flying Unicorn and I have used some the fun Stampendous Embossing Enamel. The photo is my grand daughter having some fun at the hot springs this summer. Here is how I solved this weeks case.

The Scene: use all colors in the palette and the sketch. Check. I had to do some masking and misting to get the colors just right.

The Evidence: I have used some ruffles, added texture, lots of  yummy layers and there are gold flecks in the embossing enamel.

Testimony: I chose to add six things about my subject.

Case solved! Weeeee !

Well that is it for today. This case file was so much fun to work with. Dont forget to stop by the Flying Unicorn store for all your scrappy goodies...there is new stuff going in almsot every day there.  Have a great week everyone! Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J
